sugar rush

Tonight I ate some macaroons and laid back to watch the baby show. This is my new favorite pastime so I thought I would share. (The really good stuff starts at about 17 seconds.)

drip

Sorry I've been so horrible about posting this week, but now I have a torturous cold and between that and regular pregnancy brain, I really can't think straight enough to put together a coherent sentence. (more so than usual.)

I did upload additional vacation photos to flickr, which you can see by clicking on the pictures on the left.

Hopefully I will feel better after a couple of days' rest and I will have a full-trip-wrap-up then. So many stories to tell, from the drive-in movie to the mouse in the house. No I did not take that last thing very well.

jenny's day!

Chewy and his Guuurls! , originally uploaded by buki-rama.

Back in March, my niece Jennifer and her best friend Britney came to visit over their final Spring Break before going into the real world. The first few days they were here, it was unseasonable cold and windy for March, but they nonetheless woke up early every day and went to the beach like it was their job.
(Which, when you are in your early 20's and on Senior Year Spring Break, I guess it kind of is.)

Besides the beach, we all went to a Marlins / Yankees Spring Training game and it was nice just having the girls here to make blueberry martinis with and make dinner for and hang out with. Chewy loved them so much that every morning when I got up, he would rush out of my room and to their bedroom door and wait there until they opened the door so he could jump all over them. They morning they left, they very quietly snuck out before we woke up and once we opened the door, he want racing into the room and jumped on the bed and sniffed around, frantically trying to find his girls. I think he still hasn't gotten over it.

Today, Jenny is graduating from Elon University and I hate that I cannot be there because I know how much it meant to me to have family here on my graduation, but with the holiday weekend and all, it just wasn't possible.
So, I decided to say it here-

HAPPY GRADUATION JENNY!!

Love and Kisses and all the best-
Chris, Christina and Chewy

PS- Chewy misses his girls and requests a visit soon. You're welcome anytime.

happy happy

happy happy, originally uploaded by buki-rama.

I've been spending a lot of time watching TV these days. I usually like to read during the day when I am home alone, and I have a large stack of assorted books from the library just waiting to be read, but the last week or two, I have felt either too tired or too headach-ey to read and instead spend my free time laying on the couch and watching daytime TV.
(whew- I just want to point out that was a record-breaking run-on sentence. I am exhausted)

One of my favorite shows to watch is Samantha Brown- Passport to Europe. Samantha has my dream job. (That is-my dream job if I wasn't already doing my dream job.) She travels the world and tells us what the best hotels, restaurants, shopping venues, tourist spots are in assorted cities. This is what she does for a living. Can you stand it? Some of you may remember her from her original show- Great Hotels - where she did the same thing, just more in the United States, but it was still the same idea, go and stay at a hotel and tell us what all the great things are about said hotel. Not a bad gig if you ask me.

Anyway- I know I had a point here somewhere and that is that today Samantha Brown is in Paris and it made me think of the trip Chris and I took to Paris, in January 2005. Chris planned most of the trip (as he is the King of doing) and we were lucky enough to stay in some incredible hotels in France and Italy because we were able to barter rooms with the hotels there and the hotel that Chris was running at the time here in Miami. So, we stayed at some amazing hotels - for free or close to free - and had a generally incredible trip, visiting Paris, then driving through the South of France and Monaco, into Italy, to Florence and then took a train to Rome.

Now, if that was all there was to the trip, it would have been a Dream Vacation, end of story, but what I did not know until we left France and were driving into Italy, was that this was the trip where Chris was going to propose to me. And that is what he did. On a street overlooking the Mediterranean just over the border into Italy, Chris pulled the car over, took out a ring, got on one knee and proposed.
At the time, it was the happiest moment of my life.
But life has a way of just getting better and better sometimes doesn't it?

barcelona flashback

Gaudi cathedral Barcelona, originally uploaded by buki-rama.

I love this picture even though it is a scan from a photo I took about a hundred years ago. (OK-it was 1998)

I also want to test out the "Blog This" feature of flickr so....This is also a test.

flowers n art n stuff

I have been a member of the
Fairchild Tropical Garden for 2 years now and today I decided to go there to see the Botero and Lichtenstein installation that has been there for - oh about 6 months now. Though it is less than a 30 minute drive from here, it just feels so far away and I never seem to get myself there.

Because of this, I decided that when my membership is up at the end of May, I will not renew it. I know that once I am no longer a member I will want to go all the time, but for now I only get there twice a year or so and it's just not worth the membership.

Anyway- it was a very hot day (yes- it's only April and in the shade it was still a decent temperature but in the sun it felt like 90-95 degrees) so I didn't really stay very long but I did get some good pictures, which I have posted on
my Flickr.
