lately

I have been horrible about posting lately and I'm really sorry. Life is pretty crazy here most of the time and last weekend Jack got a virus with runny nose and cough (and if you know Jack, you know he hates blowing his nose more than pretty much anything so it's like WWIII over here trying to get him to just blow it!) Then I got it and I was happy to blow my nose because it was one of those viruses that feel like there's 1,000,000,000 bees buzzing inside your nose at all times and a cough and general malaise. Now poor sweet Juni has the cough and a low fever this morning so we are just laying low here at home hoping it doesn't warrant a trip to the doctor. Here's some pics to distract you from this lame post about sicness:
This was Friday, I got Juni dressed up for her friend Stella's first birthday party. As Chris says, she was the belle of the ball <3 nbsp="" p="">
This is to show she doesn't always look like the belle of the ball but that's our Juni! She makes this face when her nose is stuffy, It is accompanied by a snort usually.
This is a flyer for a place here in Miami called the nest. They are an "emotional wellness center" and help parents and kids with different things. They asked me ages ago if they could use this picture someone took of Jack at an event they had and I just saw it in a store the other day and grabbed one. He as so cute and little!
Hi there!
My Junebug is a cartoon!

At the birthday party on Friday, Jack and his friend Dylan decided to play swordfight with some sticks. Jack lost, but at least he didn't lose is eye which is what I was sure happened when he came walking into the house crying and holding his eye, and Dylan following behind him with a giant stick in his hand. Amazingly he didn't even bruise or swell. The kid has incredible healing powers.

5 months

Dear Junebug, Today you are 5 months old! In a way it feels like you were born yesterday and in a way it feels like you have been in our family forever. You have fit into the family perfectly, rarely complaining when we have to wake you from a nap to pick up your brother or bring him to an activity. You still don't love the car but we are hoping you will start to get more used to it soon. It's easier when Jack is in the car because he is a constant source of entertainment for you. There is seriously nobody you love more than him and you light up whenever he is in your line of sight. He is still the only person who can make you belly laugh just by singing a song and doing a little dance. Your other favorite things to do are roll around on your belly, scoot backwards with your feet, screech as loud as possible, eat your toes, go for walks and people watch, and sit up not lay down. Lately when I lay you on your back you protest by holding your legs and head up and grunting until I pull you up to a sit. Your will is still a bit stronger than your body's ability and you want so badly to sit up and crawl and do all the things you see us doing. Soon enough you will baby girl, slow down! (I'm afraid I'll be saying this to you your whole life) Of course I wish you would sleep more but there are really no other complaints about you, my Junebug. I love you with all my heart and I am so happy to be your mama Love, Mama

flashback

Yesterday I was sitting with Juni and she was playing with the panda that used to be Jack's panda and I was able to catch this. They are 2 peas in a pod aren't they?

19 weeks

Dear Juni, Today you are 19 weeks old. As you can already see, you are suffering terribly from second child syndrome. I posted here faithfully when your big brother was a baby and here we are at 19 weeks before you get your first Dear Juni letter. I am so sorry but I'm sure by the time you read this you will be used to this and hope you will forgive me and know that it doesn't mean I love you any less than your brother. You are such a joy in our lives and now at 19 weeks it feels like you've always been here. We are starting to get the sleeping thing down just this week and for that I am so grateful and I think you are happier for it too. At 19 weeks you are rolling around both ways, going up on your hands and knees with such determination to crawl it makes me grateful your muscles and coordination aren't as advanced as your desire because I'm just not ready for that yet but I know it's coming soon. You love your new jumparoo and activity chair you got for Christmas and yesterday you ate some bananas that I mashed up and gave to you. This is all going so quickly this time but I love every second of it and can't wait to see what comes next. Your absolute favorite thing is to laugh at your brother. He is your hero already and nothing makes me happier than to hear you laugh at his attempts to entertain you. You are both my heart and I love you so much. Love, Mama

she's on a roll

Juni has been really scooting around lately. We put her on her play mat in one position and she ends up facing the opposite direction within minutes. Today I decided to take the play mat down completely because she seemed to always get caught up on the arms that come down to hold toys to hang from it. I took it away and put her just on a blanket so she has plenty of space to roll and move. Within seconds she was rolled onto her belly. Time to start baby proofing! (blogger isn't letting me post pics right now, I'll try again a little later)
