reading

Time magazine has an article about the US Army giving soldiers antidepressants on an increasingly regualr basis.

While I am all for antidepressants for people who feel they need it, I also believe that what these boys are feeling is a symptom of a much bigger problem. They are in a horrible place where horrible things are happening all around them, and at the same time, they know that they may be forced to stay longer (see this article) because there is such a limited amount of men available, and once they do get home, they are not being treated very well. I hope that the next president, whoever he is, and his administration, are more respectful of our troops and their needs both while they are serving and after they (finally) come home.
